Spring is here...

Spring is here and I for one am sooo thankful. We had a beautiful day on the weekend and decided to head on over to Molback's a local nursery. I'm wanting to get some practice with my camera. Although, it was an absolutely beautiful warm spring day, the sun was too bright for picture taking but I want to share anyway!

Away...

I've been away. I've been working through some stuff and just haven't been myself, but things are starting to turn around and my interest in crafting and my blog is starting to get a fire under it. I even quit one of my most favorite internet sites Craftster. I haven't crafted anything in months. Anyone go through that? Hmmm.


But, like I said, things seems to be turning around. Renewed my subscription to Craftster and joined a swap. A Dotee swap. Those are super fun to make and easy. I'll be getting my partners tomorrow and I'm actually excited to get crafting again. One things that brings me a lot of joy, is making things for other people. I love to do it. I'll be posting my process with just enough hints without giving it all away to my partners.

Pumpkin Patch..

The holiday's are starting! I love the Holiday's. Last year wasn't so good, for many reasons. This year? I'll be making up for that.

Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch. Dr. Maze's Pumpkin Patch to be specific. It's a really neat farm and the corn maze was really fun. We picked this farm because Dr. Maze uses organic methods to grow their goodies. He also grows lavender that he makes soap and other good things with. It feels good to support a farmer who wants to farm organically.

Here we are in the maze. The corn wasn't very high. Dr. Maze said that since we had a cooler summer, not a lot of rain, combined with no pesticide use the corn didn't get very high. It's interesting to see how things grow in their natural state. Makes one wonder what kind of stuff they put on and in our food to make such beautiful tall crops I've seen. Hmmm. I think I'd rather have my food not so pretty and clean than have my food pretty and dirty...if ya know what I mean?

We went by an apple orchard FULL of apples.... the apple farmer grew an apple in a wine bottle which I thought was interesting...

do you see the apple in the bottle? Eh..I didn't either.

I thought this was a neat looking squash...all..warty.

We had a great time! I would encourage everyone to support your local farmers!

Finished my son's costume yesterday as well..

He's a Jawa from Star Wars (he's in mid sneeze in this picture but it was the best one I had)...I wasn't sure how to do this and made it up as I went along. I told my boy that I'll do my best but..I don't know. He says.."I can't go to school without a costume! All my friends will be dressed up and I'll feel weird."....(24 hours later, just 15 minutes after I've finished his costume) "I don't think I want to wear it to school...I think I'll be too uncomfortable." "wha what?" .....he wore it today.

So sorry, I've been away and have not posted in a long while. Unfortunately, I have some health issues that preoccupy my time in the worst way. I seem to be coming out of it soooo YAY! I'll be posting more crafty projects since the crafty season is upon us! Glitter, ghouls, ghosties,pumpkins and lighted things! I love this time of year!

I also wanted to apologize to the wonderful LimeRiot. I won her blog giveaway and have not thanked her on my blog yet. I want to show you the wonderful things I won!

Anyhoo! I have lots of things planned and hoping to post...I've been working on a mini poppet. I love all things little and this little sprite will be a cutie..me thinks.
I have some beads and bobble findings I'll be doing something with and I'm going to try my hand at felt hooplas using the supplies I received from LimeRiot. And of course...Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas crafting....gliiiiitttttter. ;0)

9/11...always remember

I will always remember.

My husband called me early that morning telling me to turn on the TV. He told me that the Twin Towers in New York were hit by planes.
On the news they were talking about it being a terrorist attack. "A terrorist attack?"
I remember standing in front of the TV waiting and wondering if the people were getting out of the buildings. My brother was an airline pilot on the East coast and I was worried it was a plane he was flying. I found out he was safe and I continued to watch.... hoping...

Then..in horror...(I still can feel what I felt then)...I watched the first tower crumble down. I remember saying to my little 14 month old son..."NO..."......"there are people in there." Then shortly after..the second tower crumbling down. I was in shock. I remember every breath I took..the tears that flowed and the ache in my heart for those in those towers. Still trying to figure out what on earth was happening to our country.

I will never forget those who lost their lives that horrific day that changed our nation forever. I will never forget the firefighters and the police officers who went into those buildings. I will never forget those who were in the planes that went down at the Pentagon and flight 93 that went down in a field in Pennsylvania. The individuals in that plane, that tackled the pilots and probably saved countless lives.

I will never forget how our nation gathered together in a solidarity. It was like each one of us were standing together..hand in hand.

It's been 10 years but it still feels like yesterday.

How our lives were totally changed that day.

WE are a strong nation...we are resilient. We have and will continue to overcome what terrorists tried to destroy.

I am a proud American and I'm proud of our Nation.

Busy...busy...busy..

I've been busy...busy..busy lately! We finally have summer here in Seattle and it's been soooo beautiful! We've had a pretty cold and cloudy June, July and part of August so this has been wonderful. BUT! What did I do today? Stayed inside and cooked. AND! worked on a crafty project from TroubleT blog..The Trouble with Crafting I'm hoping this little ornament will turn out as I'm doing something totally different. Trying to de-stash. I don't have some of the materials so I'm trying something different. Stay tuned..;0)

Anyhoots...on to what I cooked today. They had a Ghost Hunters Marathon on so it was a perfect day to stay inside and cook ( I LURRVE GH)..I know weird cause it's so nice outside but it's a GH marathon!.

First up! Banana bread. Now... Banana bread and I have issues with each other. I have never been able to NOT burn it. Seriously, every time I've made it..I've burned it. That makes me want to get it right even more...I'm not competitive...I'm really not..;0)

One of my most favorite things is banana bread so burning it every time was a huge frustration. I followed the recipe to the T. It's moist and delicious. (the little brown on the bottom of the loaf in the picture LOOKS like it burned a bit but it tasted great!) Makes me happy.
While that was cooking I made potato salad. I've never made potato salad before. This last month I've been on a hard boiled egg kick and what better pairing than potatoes and eggs. This worked out really well...kinda made it up as I went along.

I was trying to get a pretty picture of this pile of eggy potatoey goodness and my husband said.."I don't think you can get a pretty picture of potato salad..can you?" HA! I laughed..I can't..maybe someone else can. It was delish!
My recipe..
6 potato boiled for about 15 to 18 minutes..you want them tender not mushy smashed like.
8 hard boiled eggs
3/4 cup mayo
3/4 miracle whip
about a 1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/4 cup stone ground mustard
one small onion chopped
About two Tablespoons relish
salt and pepper to taste

I peeled and cubed the potatoes and my son helped me smoosh the eggs and added them to the potato pile. The rest of the ingredients I piled on top of everything and mixed it all together.
It turned out really good! It made a lot though so the three of us will be eating potato salad for the next several days. ;0)
